How Our Haunts works

Save a place

Search for anywhere you want to remember and save it to your map. Restaurants, bars, coffee shops, bookstores, parks, trailheads, the bakery you think about on the way home.

You can also save places from someone else’s list. When a place you like is already on a list someone shared with you, one tap adds it to your haunts.

Tag it however you want

Tags are yours to invent and completely customizable, so your tags can match the way you want to remember places. Date night, patio, want to try, good for a group, worth the drive, and anything else you want.

Tags can be organized into groups too, so cuisine, occasion and type of place stay separate from each other rather than piling into one long list.

You can also color code your tag groups and give them icons to help create a bit more visual distinction as you scan through tags.

Find it again

Filter your map by city and any combination of tags. Pick two tags in the same group and you get either one; pick from different groups and you get places matching both.

The count updates as you play with the filters, so you know when to narrow or widen your search.

Make a list

Lists are a subset of your haunts. Choose a location and tags, and hide any places you dont want to show up.

Lists stay live once shared. The page updates as you add matching places, so a list you shared months ago will stay relevant today.

Share it with anyone

Lists can be private, shared with specific people via link, or published publicly for anyone to see.

Public lists can be viewed by others on your profile and get their own web page, so anyone with the link can see it with or without the app.

When someone shares a list with you, you can save the list to your profile for future reference. You can also save places from their list to your haunts.

Look through someone else’s POV

Follow friends or people whose taste you trust and their haunts becomes yours to browse. Their places, their tags, their public lists.

When viewing someone else’s haunts or lists, you can save any of their places to your own map and tag them however you want.

Note: Only public haunts or shared lists can be browsed by others.

Is Our Haunts free?

Yes. Our Haunts is free, has no ads, and does not sell your data.

Do I need the app to read a list someone shared with me?

No. Every shared list is a web page that opens in any browser, on any device, with directions to each place.

What happens to a list after I share it?

It stays live. A list is built from a rule rather than a snapshot, so when you save a new place that matches, it appears on the page you already shared.

Can I bring my saved places from Google Maps?

Who can see my places?

Nothing is public unless you share it. You can make your haunts public or private. Separately, you choose per list whether it is private, reachable only by link, or public. You can have a private haunts and still create public lists.

What devices does Our Haunts run on?

Our Haunts is an iPhone app. Shared lists work in any web browser.
